The ITDC has been in existence in Taiz for 40 years: making it one of the longest standing NGO's in the region. Since signing its first agreement with the Yemeni government in June 1969, the center has offered sacrificial and committed service to the country. Over the years, several initiatives have been undertaken by the center, specifically in the vocational and educational aspects of development work. International experts have developed several programs, including electricity, electronics, education, English education, as well as health, sewing and women's skills. It was an early value of the organization to provide affordable education for poorer communities, providing them with an equal chance to better their socio-economic situation. There are many people in the city and region who now have a better ability to contribute to the market place because they studied at the center.
